Love always, Yoda

The best part about telling the internet everything about your life is that when you decide to pull a Yoda and drop down some knowledge bombs people can’t be all like ‘what the hell? what does this girl know?” because well, we know that some stuff has gone down.

Not that tragic events or celebratory moments automatically give someone a free stamp in the passport of Life- but I do find that when life kicks you squarely in the ladyparts or the universe gives you an unexpected high-five, a person tends to do a bit more reflection. Sure, it usually …READ MORE

SO THEN I WENT TO HARRY POTTER WORLD

Let me start with this: when I heard that there was going to be a HARRY POTTER WORLD opening up in Florida, the only question in my head was when I would be going, not if it was reasonable for a 28 year old to round up her friends and trek to the tip of another country to partake in a magical world, based on books for pre-teens.

In short, I’m a fan.

But not like, a crazy one. I don’t have Harry’s name tattooed on my body.

Yet.

So. There was a lot of people. It was like… visiting …READ MORE

Because These Are The Best Days

Oh hi blog!

When summer vacation started, my summer plans list looked something like this: 1. get up at 7am everyday 2. learn a new language (preferably something useful like Mandarin) 3. blog a few times a week 4. go for a morning run 5. become a domestic goddess worthy of her own show on TLC. 6. PREPARE FOR HARRY POTTER WORLD!

Summer vacation is half over and so far this is what my list has morphed into: 1. get up before noon-ish (Like that ‘-ish’? I don’t like putting serious limits on myself. My body reacts badly to boundaries) …READ MORE

On BSG, Michael Bolton & a little team called the COLTS

One of the best reasons to have a blog (other than the free swag- I’m STILL WAITING FOR GAP TO START THROWING PARTIES FOR CANADIAN BLOGGERS- I’M JUST SAYING), is that it’s easy to see what you were doing one week ago, or one month ago or one year ago. You can simply just click in the archives and you will find your past feelings and thoughts and anecdotes perfectly preserved. You can hit a particular month and find out what was breaking your heart, how drunk you got on cheap wine at your friends party, what social causes were …READ MORE

“Everything seems impossible until it gets done”

That’s one of my favourite quotes. It’s one that’s been ringing in my head since last Wednesday when the internet ROCKED MY WORLD and showed me just how much people care. And how much people can do. Because internet? You are getting it done.

You really are on fire right now. Not “what’s that smell?” sort of fire, but “Whoooo! LOOK AT US GO!” sort of fire. As of today, YOU have raised over $3,000 for multiple myeloma research. THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Cue confetti!

Not only that, the loveharder shop is selling stuff at a rapid pace and the …READ MORE

Meet the Internet

I know people who don’t understand blogging. Some of them, happen to be my favourite people in the world. Sure, they get the idea of sharing your thoughts, but many of my dearest and closest friends struggle to understand what a blogging community is and why it’s something I adore. I mention blogging or 20sb in casual conversations and I can see them trying to fully grasp the importance of this world to me but I know the connection hasn’t been made.

To be fair, I’ve never been really good at explaining why I do adore the community and the …READ MORE

Health Wise

I teach Health to eight year olds. Once a week, for thirty minutes- we talk about how to brush your teeth or what to do if your kid brother lights you on fire with firecrackers and the many different types of flammable liquid one can find around the home (and why it’s bad news bears to drink them).

One of the things we work on in Health is self- esteem. They are growing up in a Bratz Dolls universe and any doll that can make Barbie look like a slob has got to be dangerous. So last Health block, …READ MORE

Are you ready?

Despite what movies and books tell you, there usually isn’t an ‘ah ha!’ moment. You won’t find yourself ironing your shirt and then suddenly decide to give up on routine, give in to what you want, let go of what you don’t need.  No, no, it doesn’t work that way. It creeps on you, it seeps into your veins, nests deep inside your brain, takes up residence in your heart- and without warning or intention, you find yourself ready to leap for great big things and break out of the routine that you’ve called your LIFE.

Suddenly you think less …READ MORE

My lips are sealed. Kind of. Not really

You know, for all my waxing about love and like and movies starring both Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks- I’m not easily wooed. I tend to be the girl who is not impressed when a dude comes over to talk because he’s usually cutting in to the great time I’m already having with my friends. (Real life friends who read the blog? Feel free to chime in and confirm this bitchy behavior I exhibit).

And when a guy manages to get into a conversation? I’m easy to cut him loose if I feel like he’s not quality. (For the record, …READ MORE

A Beautiful Dropkick

It surprises me when I discover I am loved.

That sounds silly doesn’t? As though one should take for granted being loved as easy as one takes for granted air or space or the continued beat of their own heart despite a deep rooted love for corn dogs.

But it surprises me to discover I am loved.

When the words leave someone else and are shot straight to me- like a rubber band filled with nervous excitement, ” I love you“, three words that light up even the darkest night,  I find that I have no room to be delighted- …READ MORE
