I love you, help, here is my heart, i know- we all LOVE him, i may write about the west wing forever, i promise this is cool, i should be a cheerleader, i want this, I'm yoda. Everyone else is a grasshopper, it makes sense to me, it's a good thing, it's a long one (twss), just do what i say, just say yes, karma is going to get you, mindful happiness, school, something I won't forget, sometimes you just have to leap, this one might be my favourite, when i ask you to do things for me
I have a student in my class, let’s call him Jake. He’s (secretly) one of my favourite students because he tends to see the glass half full and is grumpy in the most endearing way. He struggles socially and spends a lot of recesses with me as he says “I don’t have friends because my brain has a hard time making some”. He has big brown eyes and his shoe laces are always undone. Jake has a lot of anxiety issues and when I have a substitute at school, he’s so worried about me he works in counsellors office to help …READ MORE
Congratulations. You’ve done it. You’ve accomplished another year in a world that does not rationalize its choices and often hands out victories and successes, heartache and grief in ways that we don’t always understand and with randomness that we often question late at night when we feel most alone.
We tend to only recognize our achievements when someone else gives them value. It’s when we hear the praise of others that we finally give ourselves the pat on the back we’ve been yearning for. It’s when others tell us we have done well that we admit that- yes, we have …READ MORE

But here, look at my cute puppy before you go:
You want to see how adorable Macy is in her harness she wears because her walking speed is Mach 5? Okay! One more:
Now that you feel that you’ve swallowed a rainbow of happiness, you may leave.
Kardashian time.
Let’s just get it out in the open- I like Kim Kardashian. I think she’s a smart business woman and is ridiculously talented at knowing how to …READ MORE
The week Bridesmaids came out, I trekked to the theatre. I’d heard the hype and eagerly sat in my seat like a giddy dork waiting for the lights to go down so I could revel in 2 hours of pure estrogen created hilarity. Instead of leaving the theatre on a high note, I left with a bad feeling in my stomach. Sort of like when you realize you ran a red light or you see pictures of the Olsen twins leaving their twelvefiftygazillionbajillion dollar apartments wearing something you threw into a dumpster after fourth grade.
Let’s start with all the …READ MORE
April 6th, 2011 in About the last line? I'm kidding. I promise, aren't you?, because I can't do report cards 24/7, conversation of the day, earning my dork badge, i might be addicted to tags, i should be a cheerleader, lists, thank you Eleni, the last line is my favourite, this makes me sound dumber than i am, top 10, what i found when i went looking I was on the phone with a friend recently and mentioned Twitter. My friend (who lives an almost technology free existence) started asking questions. TOO MANY QUESTIONS.
Her: “Soo, explain to me how you decide what is worthy of writing about on twitter?”
Me: “Um.. if it’s a thought in my head.”
Her: ” So it’s just random thoughts?”
Me: “Well you make it sound unimportant!”
Her: “Have you ever talked about your lunch?”
Me: “Irrelevant!”
Her: “So that’s a yes.”
Me: “Twitter changes lives. It finds dogs and people. AND STARTS REVOLUTIONS. JUST LEAVE TWITTER ALONE.”
Her: “You are …READ MORE
March 27th, 2011 in 1/2 funny 1/2 serious 100% important, 20something, happiness, hello universe? I love you, I like annoying people by talking about how much i like comic sans, i love fragment sentences, i should be a cheerleader, i should be a P.S.A., I'm yoda. Everyone else is a grasshopper, introspection sometimes causes me to drink, it makes sense to me, it's almost like a meme, italics make it appear more thoughtful/interesting, life lesson, love harder, right on my sleeve, the world according to me, when I go all Dr. Phil on you, you're skimming this one The best part about telling the internet everything about your life is that when you decide to pull a Yoda and drop down some knowledge bombs people can’t be all like ‘what the hell? what does this girl know?” because well, we know that some stuff has gone down.
Not that tragic events or celebratory moments automatically give someone a free stamp in the passport of Life- but I do find that when life kicks you squarely in the ladyparts or the universe gives you an unexpected high-five, a person tends to do a bit more reflection. Sure, it usually …READ MORE

Everyone else is a grasshopper, it makes sense to me, just do what i say, lists, love harder, people i like, so sappy it hurts, the title says it all, when I go all Dr. Phil on you, your vote matters here Oh hi blog!
When summer vacation started, my summer plans list looked something like this: 1. get up at 7am everyday 2. learn a new language (preferably something useful like Mandarin) 3. blog a few times a week 4. go for a morning run 5. become a domestic goddess worthy of her own show on TLC. 6. PREPARE FOR HARRY POTTER WORLD!
Summer vacation is half over and so far this is what my list has morphed into: 1. get up before noon-ish (Like that ‘-ish’? I don’t like putting serious limits on myself. My body reacts badly to boundaries) …READ MORE
November 8th, 2009 in advice, AHHHHHHHHHHH!, confession of the day, hello universe? I love you, i should be a cheerleader, i think my sweetness gave you a cavity, it makes sense to me, men, no i haven't gotten laid, something I won't forget, sometimes you just have to leap, the one that nobody reads because of the title, when i ask you to do things for me You know, for all my waxing about love and like and movies starring both Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks- I’m not easily wooed. I tend to be the girl who is not impressed when a dude comes over to talk because he’s usually cutting in to the great time I’m already having with my friends. (Real life friends who read the blog? Feel free to chime in and confirm this bitchy behavior I exhibit).
And when a guy manages to get into a conversation? I’m easy to cut him loose if I feel like he’s not quality. (For the record, …READ MORE

That sounds silly doesn’t? As though one should take for granted being loved as easy as one takes for granted air or space or the continued beat of their own heart despite a deep rooted love for corn dogs.
But it surprises me to discover I am loved.
When the words leave someone else and are shot straight to me- like a rubber band filled with nervous excitement, ” I love you“, three words that light up even the darkest night, I find that I have no room to be delighted- …READ MORE

Yeah. I TOTALLY know what you are thinking. Ohhhh, now that she’s got a new job and NOW she believes in miracles, what a whore.
Okay, maybe not the ‘whore’ bit.
I’ve been thinking lately about how I need to work on recognizing happiness. I’m always good at knowing when I WAS happy, but I often forget to appreciate the moment I AM happy. It’s one of those things- you don’t realize how good it is until it’s over (there’s a country song in there somewhere). I tend to be …READ MORE
